Online Causation Monitoring of Signal Temporal Logic

Abstract Online monitoring is an effective validation approach for hybrid systems, that, at runtime, checks whether the (partial) signals of a system satisfy specification in, e.g., Signal Temporal Logic (STL) . The classic STL performed by computing robustness interval that specifies, each instant, how far monitored are from violating and satisfying specification. However, since monotonically shrinks during monitoring, online monitors may fail in reporting new violations or precisely describing evolution current instant. In this paper, we tackle these issues considering causation violation satisfaction, instead directly using robustness. We first introduce Boolean monitor decides instant relevant to satisfaction then extend quantitative tells being satisfaction. further show can be derived our proposed ones. Experimental results two able provide more detailed information about evolution, without requiring significantly higher cost.
